Bitcoin slots: playing with BTC, from RTP to the cost of an hour
Guide · Slots
The slots at a crypto casino are the same as at any casino: what changes is the coin of the balance. Here are the ranked casinos with the most studios, how to read each game's RTP and what an hour of spins costs on average.
Bitcoin slots are ordinary slots played with a crypto balance. The games come from the same studios as at any online casino: Pragmatic Play, Hacksaw Gaming, Nolimit City, Play'n GO. What changes is the cashier. You deposit BTC, USDT or another coin, the casino converts each bet and pays wins into the same balance.
This page does not review games one by one. It gathers what the ranked casinos say about their catalogue and rules, and explains the two figures that decide what playing costs: each slot's RTP and how much you stake per hour.
Ranked casinos for playing slots with crypto
| Casino | Providers | Coins | The rule that matters for slots |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bitcasino.io | More than 120 | BTC, ETH, USDT, LTC, XRP and others | Withdrawal cap of 1,000,000 USDT a week (6.10) |
| Sportsbet.io | More than 110 | BTC, ETH, USDT, LTC and others | Its welcome bonus is for sports, not slots |
| Empire.io | About 79 | BTC, ETH, USDT, LTC | Extra verification on withdrawals above 2,000 USD |
| CoinCasino | About 63 | BTC, ETH, USDT, SOL and others | Cap of €500,000 a month (9.6); may verify before play |
| Bitsler | More than 40 | BTC, ETH, USDT, LTC, DOGE and more | Does not say from what amount it asks for documents |
| Vave | Not published | BTC, ETH, USDT, LTC, DOGE, TON | A deposit is staked three times in the casino before withdrawal (8.11) |
Vave is our partner and one of the two casinos where we play with our own money; the rest is read from their terms and the licence register. Full entries, with licence and verification, are in the crypto casino ranking.
RTP: the same slot can pay back differently
RTP is the share of stakes a slot returns over the long run. Whatever is short of 100% stays with the casino. The detail few people check: many studios ship the same game in several RTP versions, and each casino chooses which to install. Name, graphics and features are identical; the payback is not.
| RTP of the installed version | Kept on average from every €1,000 staked |
|---|---|
| 97% | €30 |
| 96% | €40 |
| 95% | €50 |
| 94% | €60 |
| 92% | €80 |
The RTP of the version you play is on the game's own info or rules screen, inside the casino while logged in. An outside review may quote another version's figure. Check it before the first spins: between 96% and 94% there is an extra half euro of average loss for every €25 staked.
What an hour of slots costs
RTP applies to everything staked, not to what you deposited. That is why pace matters most: at about 500 spins an hour, a small bet moves a lot of money.
| Bet per spin | Staked in an hour (500 spins) | Average cost at 96% RTP |
|---|---|---|
| €0.20 | €100 | about €4 |
| €0.50 | €250 | about €10 |
| €1 | €500 | about €20 |
| €2 | €1,000 | about €40 |
That is an average over many hours. One session can end with a big win or an empty balance; what shapes that swing is volatility.
Volatility: how the payback is spread
| Volatility | How often it pays | Size of wins | Balance needed for the same session |
|---|---|---|---|
| Low | Often | Small | Smaller |
| Medium | In between | In between | In between |
| High | Rarely; many empty rounds | Few but large, mostly in the bonus feature | Considerably larger |
Two games with the same RTP can give very different sessions. With a small balance, a high-volatility slot often runs it down before reaching the feature that pays. Volatility is on the game sheet, often as a scale of bolts or skulls.
Bonus buy: faster, just as expensive
Many crypto casinos let you buy the bonus feature directly, for a price of several times the bet, often a hundred. The RTP of the buy is usually close to the base game's, so you save nothing: you stake much faster. At €1 a spin, a €100 buy equals a hundred spins played at once.
If you play with a bonus, read the terms first: it is common for bonus buys not to count towards the rollover, for a maximum bet to apply while the bonus is active and for some slots to be excluded. How a crypto bonus is worked out is on crypto bonuses.
Slots in BTC or in USDT
| Balance coin | What you see in the slot | What changes at withdrawal |
|---|---|---|
| Bitcoin | The bet is usually shown in dollars or euros and deducted in BTC | The balance moves with the bitcoin price |
| USDT | Bet and balance in dollars | Only the euro-dollar rate |
| Other crypto (ETH, LTC, SOL…) | As with BTC | The balance follows that coin's price |
On slots, where the result already swings a lot, adding bitcoin's price swing complicates the arithmetic. With USDT you always know how much you have staked and what is left. Stablecoin casinos are on USDT casinos; those taking BTC on Bitcoin casinos.
Studio slots versus original games
Studio slots use a random number generator certified by labs such as eCOGRA, iTech Labs or GLI. You cannot check a given spin: you rely on the certification and the published RTP. Crypto casino originals such as dice, Crash, Plinko or Mines are provably fair: after each round you can verify with the seeds that the result was fixed beforehand. Stake, Bitsler, Rakebit and Cloudbet have games of this kind.
Before the first spin
- Check the installed RTP on the game's info screen.
- Work out the cost per hour at your stake: bet × 500 × the shortfall from 100%.
- Choose volatility by your balance, not by the top prize.
- With a bonus, look for the maximum bet and excluded slots.
- Set a session limit and a deposit limit in the account.
